Our mission is to create a healthcare environment where every individual, regardless of their identity, feels valued and supported. Through specialized training, impactful workshops, and advocacy efforts, we equip healthcare providers with the tools and knowledge to meet the unique needs of LGBTQI+ communities.

We’re thrilled to collaborate with the Student’s Welfare Society (SWS) for the Inclusive Healthcare Workshop happening at BPKIHS Auditorium Hall, Dharan, on 4th January 2025.

SWS is a non-political, non-profit organization recognized by the 32nd BPKIHS Senate. It represents all the students of BPKIHS, working tirelessly to protect their rights and ensure their welfare.

Inclusive Healthcare Workshop Completed

Our first workshop, Transforming Patient Care, is tailored to provide healthcare providers with the foundational knowledge needed to deliver compassionate, inclusive care to LGBTQI+ patients. This workshop emphasizes understanding the unique healthcare needs and challenges faced by LGBTQI+ individuals.

Key Highlights:

  • Interactive Learning: Participants explored LGBTQI+ terminologies, pronouns, and respectful communication through real-world scenarios and case studies. The hands-on exercises ensured they could apply these lessons in their practices.
  • Understanding Barriers: Trainers shed light on the systemic barriers and stigmas that LGBTQI+ patients face, from discrimination to inadequate representation in healthcare policies.
  • Building Empathy: Through role-playing activities, participants put themselves in the shoes of LGBTQI+ patients, gaining a deeper appreciation of the importance of inclusive and sensitive healthcare practices.

The workshop concluded with actionable takeaways and resource toolkits for immediate implementation. Feedback from participants revealed a marked improvement in their confidence to engage respectfully with LGBTQI+ patients.

Local governments are also committed to ensuring their policies and healthcare services are tailored to LGBTQIA+ needs.
